Identified! “Sarmad A” Berlin Terror Attack

Sarmad A screaming ‘Allahu Akbar’ causes multiple crashes in Berlin while driving car with fake bomb’ – 6 people injured – 3 severly wounded

Berlin – Did he want to kill people with his car? A 30-year-old Iraqi Name Sarmad A caused horror and chaos on the city ring yesterday evening. The man caused three accidents on the A100 in succession in Wilmersdorf, Schöneberg and Tempelhof at around 6:35 p.m. The police assume that he deliberately committed all the accidents. A total of six people were injured, three of them seriously.

BILD learned from police circles that the attack was carried out with a religious and pathological background. The 30-year-old Iraqi Sarmad A. is believed to be the culprit. The public prosecutor’s office confirmed: “According to current knowledge, it was an Islamist-motivated attack,” said a spokesman on Wednesday. But there are also indications of psychological problems in the 30-year-old Iraqi.

The alerted police were able to overpower the 30-year-old and arrested him. He was taken to the prison collection point on Tempelhofer Damm. To be on the safe side, the city motorway was largely closed. The LKA explosives experts examined several objects in the man’s car.

Apparently only tools were discovered when the suspicious box on the roof was x-rayed. Another box in the trunk was opened with a high pressure water jet around 10.30 p.m. Then it was clear: the content poses no danger. Traces of explosives, as initially suspected, were not found in the car.

The state security is investigating whether the Iraqi, who appeared mentally suspicious, has an Islamist background.

In the two other accidents that the man caused, a scooter driver had to be reanimated at Innsbrucker Platz. In addition, according to BILD information, a motorcyclist was run over in the Detmolder Straße area.

The A100 sometimes had to be closed in both directions for several hours. The traffic jam stretched across the Schöneberg junction to the radio tower triangle. The Berlin traffic information center wrote on Twitter in the evening that the A100 in the direction of Wedding (north) was blocked from the Neukölln or Tempelhofer Damm triangle to the Schöneberg junction and in the direction of Neukölln (south) from the Steglitz junction to Tempelhofer Damm.
